Japanese Container Carriers ONE Alliance optimistic after 12 months.
OCEAN Network Express (ONE) is celebrating its first anniversary following the commencement of operations since combining the container shipping operations of the three leading Japanese lines, “K” Line, MOL and NYK.
As a member of THE Alliance, ONE has become – within the space of 12 months – a multi-trade global carrier and has managed to “ensure competitiveness and relevance” by achieving a number of accomplishments, it said.
ONE has become top 5 largest refirgerated carrier
A statement released by ONE highlighted accomplishments, such as “the enhancement of its refrigerated container capacity to which ONE is now ranked among the top five largest refrigerated carrier in world (over 250,000 TEU),” and the introduction of 31 mega-ships, including 20,000 TEU vessels.
It also highlighted the successful launch of the four million TEU capacity Pasir Panjang terminal in Singapore that is equipped with a berth that can simultaneously accommodate four mega-ships. The terminal is a joint-venture between ONE and terminal operator PSA Singapore.

It achieved a record berth productivity rate of 300 ship-to-shore moves at the Pasir Panjang terminal with the ONE-operated containership, “NYK Swan”.
“Capitalising on the above success and by strengthening its core capabilities in all aspects of the business, ONE is now better equipped to address the diversified needs of its customers and the demands of the industry, as it moves into its second year of operations,” it said.
“To this end, ONE is well poised for its next milestone by embarking on a journey of new perspectives and standards.”
