Lufthansa Cargo has reported operating losses in the second quarter of euro 68 million compared to a profit of euro 20 million y-o-y, blaming a resilience in a soft market situation.

Revenues increased by 2.6% totaling euro 593 million and showing a rise of 1.8% in mail volumes. Second quarter revenue cargo ton kilometers went up  1.4% against a 5.5% increase in capacity This resulted in a load factor of 65.7%, down with 2.6 points.

In an announcement Lufthansa cargo stated “Some airlines altered their pricing models at the beginning of the year, taking the first step towards all-in rates that no longer show the fuel surcharge separately. Lufthansa Cargo is observing this trend, analyzing developments in pricing structures and evaluating them carefully,”
