For this month’s Atlas member interview, we talked to Mustafa Al-Azzawi from Muscat, Oman. Among other things, he explains how he found his true passion in logistics, despite starting off as a civil engineer. Happy reading!
How did you get started in the logistics industry and what has your journey been like so far?
To begin with, I must mention that our business is family-owned. My background is in civil engineering, and while I was studying, I occasionally helped out in the family business. After completing my studies, I ventured into the civil engineering sector and worked there for six months.
However, during this period, I realized that civil engineering was not my true calling.
Reflecting on the times I had spent in the logistics industry with my family, it dawned on me that this was where my passion lay. I made up my mind that pursuing a career in logistics was what I wanted and decided to dedicate myself to it.
The logistics industry is vast, and every day presents an opportunity for me to acquire new knowledge. I am eager and enthusiastic about continually learning and evolving within this dynamic field.
If there is one thing that you could change to the logistics industry, what would it be and why?
Well, I would say more technological advancements, which can lead to more customer satisfaction and cost saving.
What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?
The knowledge! I look into this industry not just as services provider but as a trader.
How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?
Digitalization, customer services and quality of service.
What do you like the most about being a member of our logistics network?
The professionality of my fellow members.
How do you relax in your free time?
Work out, barbecue and go to the beach.
Thank you, Mustafa!
